Forever obsessed with shopping

As the title suggests my addiction to shopping continues.

This little grey number was my bargain pick up this month, £6.00 from one of my local charity shops. It’s from phase eight and I just love the detailing. This is one of my long style kimonos from last year from Topshop and I’m thrilled they are all back in. Go get one, they can transform an outfit.

This outfit is something I would never normally choose. I’ve seen these crop trousers in all the shops but due to me being small and curvy I never thought they would suit me…but with the right top they really do work! I love khaki so found this beaut in Dorothy Perkins and I am getting with the floral craze with this snazzy blazer!

Lets go more colour crazy and get a orange skirt to match! I love long skirts, I’ll never have the figure for mini skirts and that’s ok when you can pick up this style. Everything is from Dorothy Perkins.

I will forever love Zara and there collection just now is amazing, I could honestly go bankrupt in there. I’m still digging this off the shoulder look so couldn’t resist when I saw this. Also tried a choker for the first time as I never thought I’d suit them or it would remind me of my teenage angst days but hey ho here is me trying! Please excuse the scabby eyebrows, I just had them tattoo’d and they were in the healing stage!

Happy shopping everyone ✨

I’m the worst

I am the worst. It’s been so many weeks since I last posted and I kept saying to myself “better do a wee update soon” but never did. So hello again! The reason for being awol is a combination of a few things: being off work with RSI, so I was keeping myself majorly busy so that I wouldn’t get cabin fever and also my job search was taking up a lot of my time but….IT PAID OFF! Yup I got offered a brand new shiny job, I can’t believe it.

If you have read any of my previous posts you will know how unhappy I was in my job. It caused extreme anxiety and made me ill. I ended up being a shadow of my former self and it didn’t matter how hard I searched no company would get back to me.

When I got diagnosed with repititive strain injury I thought great another thing caused by work but I turned it around and thought right nows the time, you need to kick yourself up the arse and job hunt, properly. I can’t believe it paid off and I start my new job tomorrow. Handing in my notice was one of the most rewarding and anxious experiences of my life and walking out that door for the final time just felt like pure relief. I just hope this job makes me feel like me again.

Apart from that I have been back at the gym and decided I need to cut back on the unhealthy food. I am all for curves and body positivity but I have let myself go this past year. New job, new me, new lifestyle! It will be tough but I’m being realistic and healthy. I’m hoping that will boost my confidence even more.

Heres some snaps from what I’ve been up to this past month!

I will post something separate with my outfits as I have been shopping crazy (and my bank account is truly paying the price)

So if you are feeling trapped in your job and can’t see a way out, I completely understand but patience and proper job searching will help. Only apply for the jobs you really want and really wow them with your cv. I was rejected from countless companies so I know how hopeless it can make you feel but you will find something.

Happy week everyone!

A tale as old as time ✨

Unfortunately the good weather has ended and hello rain so perfect day for a cinema date with my bestie! We went to see the new Beauty And The Beast and I was not disappointed! I normally hate remakes or sequels of Classic Disney films as I am such a huge fan but this was magical. If like me your childhood was filled with cinema trips to see the latest Disney film or you collected all the VHS tapes then I urge you to go see it.

I decided to go monochrome today as  a summer dress was definitely not going to fly.

I just adore my leather jacket, I would wear it everyday if I could. The top is from Wallis and is perfect to wear with jeans. It’s long enough to cover any lumps and bumps and the stripes are flattering. Make sure to always go for vertical stripes or a mixed pattern, otherwise it can make you look bigger than you are.

Also my new lipstick to add to the collection is from Kiko and Is called “smart fusion lipstick” the number  423. The matching lip liner is “smart fusion lip pencil” and is number 512.

Hope you all have a magical week✨

Adventure Time

A rare thing has happened in Glasgow this weekend…sunshine. Now usually we have sun with wind and little heat but not this time! It was beautiful.

Since it was so lovely my hubby and I decided to go enjoy it and get some exercise also (really trying to increase my gym attendance) so we walked a couple of miles to Linn Park and decided to go a route we never ventured to and ended up walking miles on this nature trail to end up at what looked like a magical little town. It was intense in the heat and I stupidly had flip flops on (possibly worse thing for a nature walk) I honestly thought we would just lie on some grass and watch the world go by! Anyway by the end of the trail it was save to say I was in agony and stupidly forgot water. In other words if you are leaving to walk miles in the heat, remember some water!

Apart from the pain it was wonderful to go somewhere new and really appreciate my surroundings. Here’s some pictures of our journey.

Have a great Monday everyone

Spring Time 🌞

Well it’s officially Spring, here’s to beer gardens and less clothing. Like a lot of women I fear the thought of removing layers and feeling so exposed BUT this is the year were I embrace me and wear colour.

I have been checking out the retail shops to see what’s hot at the moment. It’s all about blue shirts and bright colours like pink and orange. Now I’m a goth kid at heart who loves black and dark colours but I’m trying to get better. I might not go full barbie pink but that’s what accessories are for.

I bought a few goodies to get in the spring feeling and I’m happy with these purchases.

This little beaut is from Matalan and only £16. I love the shape and length of this, great for coverage and matches with so much.

I am loving the off the shoulder look at the moment! I’m not a fan of having my arms out so these are great if you feel self conscious and want something to flatter you. Another one here from Matalan and for a bargain £12. I got one in each colour!

In my previous post I spoke about my quest for jeans, well here they are in all there glory!

So after having two days of sunshine I am definitely looking forward to bright nights, picnics and sun dresses.

Happy Spring Everyone!

I’m Back

It’s been so long since I did my last post, but some things have been going on.

I have been having terrible pain in my fingers and joints, so much so that I’ve avoided typing. I finally went to the doctor and after numerous blood tests (all came back negative) it’s been diagnosed as repititive strain injury. This is due to constantly using a computer in work for hours on end. I am off for two weeks which is fantastic but I’m anxious, what if my hands don’t get better in that time and then what?

I visited a physiotherapist yesterday and we got going with an ultrasound and some exercises. I’ve to go back next week and she wants to try acupuncture. She says it works for 8/10 people so is it worth trying? My hands are so sore I suppose I’ll give anything a go.

Other than that my life has been pretty uneventful. I got a bonus from work, but after some retail therapy I’m afraid it’s getting less and less!

I had the dreaded task of Jean shopping, for anyone who has a booty and thighs that touch, you know how much of a struggle this can be. It’s my most feared shopping task as I can’t find jeans to get past my butt or look flattering. But after many failed attempts and trying numerous different sizes and styles I found them….in the most unlikely place. Quiz, yup that shop that always has big fancy dresses which can be OTT. I went in with my mum and saw black skinny ripped jeans, just what I wanted! There was one pair in my actual size (I usually go up one size for jeans so was sceptical) but they fitted like a glove, no muffin top or bulging leg fat, hoorayyyyy!!

I was thrilled and they were only £26.99, my other option was river island who surprisingly had black skinny jeans that fitted for £42.99 but I had to go up a size in RI. Previous to these shops I tried everywhere and the frustration nearly took over. The photo shows the amount of jeans and styles I was trying at one time…..

Those lift and shape ones were the WORST. Could not get past my calves, ridiculous. Didn’t matter what size I tried, they were not lifting or shaping anything.

This is me afterwards, stressed and totally disappointed. I thought my god am I really so huge that I’ll live in leggings forever? But I reminded myself that sizes means nothing and the right pair were out for me.

Don’t let retail therapy get you down, remember it’s all about shopping for your shape and not caring about a number. I’d rather go up three sizes and look fierce instead of looking stumpy and unflattering.

I’ll be posting my other new items shortly.

Happy retail therapy everyone!

Wedding Fever

Happy Monday everyone!

My phone has decided to stop working and the touchscreen function works for about 10% of the time but not to fear I am handing it in for repair this week. However this means I haven’t been on here for a few days so lets recap.

It’s been a very up and down past few days, it all started when my nephew was taken to hospital as they found a lump and wanted to get him tested immediately. This put my head in a tailspin, the thought that my little dude could be seriously ill just struck me to the core and I couldn’t stop fearing the worst. I found out about the test results two hours before I was due to leave my house to attend a wedding reception. I was told to keep an eye on my phone for any updates and to pray…you know its bad when your mum is telling you this. But I did what I always do and put on a brave face and crammed the feelings so far down that they couldn’t resurface and I continued to get ready for the reception. I got there with my big smiley face, did the congratulations and tried to enjoy my night. I just couldn’t do it, the constant peering at my phone and the tipsier my husband was getting just made me want to get out of there. He picked up how I was feeling and we left early.

We got the results back and my nephew does not have the dreaded C word. They just need to figure out how to get rid of the lump but I couldn’t have felt more relieve when my sister told me it was nothing more sinister. It got me thinking about the poor individuals out there who get that call from the doctor that it is bad news and they have to process so many feelings. It’s horrendous even thinking about it and the anxiety I felt for just those few days is nothing compared to what others are feeling every single day. My heart truly goes out to them.

At the wedding reception it got me thinking about my own wedding which I can’t believe will be two years ago this year. You really do feel so many different emotions and I can honestly say I wasn’t a bridezilla but I felt so anxious when I was getting ready. Even though I have been with Colin for 10 years I was still freaking out, should we be doing this? what happens if it changes everything? will we need to have kids straight away? My head went into overdrive. HOWEVER it was magical, the whole day and night was like something from a fairytale and it couldn’t have gone any better.

We decided to go to Portugal for our wedding as I always wanted an abroad wedding and it actually worked out cheaper. There was only around 20 of us so it just felt like a big family holiday! Lying by the pool on my wedding day drinking cocktails in 30 degree heat was just perfection. I alway get asked questions about doing it abroad so Ill answer the most popular ones!

How did you get your wedding dress over there, including all your holiday clothes? Well I bought a wedding dress box online, it matches the exact dimensions as your hand luggage and can fit a dress, shoes and bouquet! It was a god send.

How did you decorate or theme your wedding? I always wanted to do a DIY wedding and make my own decorations so thats exactly what I did. Just because it’s abroad does not mean you have to pay through the nose for someone else to do it for you. My best friend is a paper artist so she made the table decorations with my colour theme, I bought fake tulips online with light weight jugs to put them in. I also ordered and individually wrapped all my favours and brought along a giant map for everyone to sign instead of a guest book. For me it was all about light weight, originality and flare!

What about your make up and hair, did it not ruin in the heat? Again nothing changed here. Before I left for the airport I made sure to bring my own make up as I wasn’t hiring someone else to do it! Instead of heavy foundation, I opted for Macs lightweight tinted moisturiser and some light powder to keep it in place. I made sure I used my primer as always and that I had eyebrow gel in to keep them in place! Not one part of my face melted. Same with hair, if you pick the right style then you will be fine. I opted for a side messy bun, which worked out great as it kept it away from my eyes and face.

Was it not really expensive? The most common and important of all questions! Now in order to get a good deal you really need to shop around. I looked at numerous countries and venues before I chose this one. You need to think about flight costs for you and of course family and friends, distance..especially if you have any young children in the family and of course weather. Portugal was the perfect choice, cheap flights, 2 and a half hours away and 30 degree heat in June…all boxes ticked. It was time to find venues, I messaged various hotels to see what was the best deal and Hotel Tivoli was my choice. 4 star resort with a beautiful sounding menu, free wine and beer for the entire event and a wedding planner included in the price, result. It worked out under £50 per person and my god the food was out of this world. The hotel rooms we got as a discount for us and our guests and it was B&B with a massive breakfast buffet every morning. I honestly could’t have picked better.

Here are some of my wedding photos to give you an idea and if you have any questions about weddings or want any hints and tips then please do message me.

Have a great week everyone,
