Now I am no stranger to make up but sometimes you forget what you’re really like without it. How many of you feel comfortable walking out the house without it? I can safely say I don’t. It feels like everyone is staring at your bare face and judging you. That’s something I want to work on.
I want to work on confidence in my own skin. There’s so many positive body loving social media sites out there and I’d love to feel that accepting of my face and body.
Dont get me wrong I love my make up. I love the way it makes me feel, I love the sudden boost I feel when I apply that last brush stroke but I want to feel content with going out my house commando.
So here’s a recent picture (like half an hour ago) of me freshly out the bath, not a scratch of war paint on and no filters.
Excuse my healing eyebrows and slight pink eye from my bath but hey it’s me.
The one thing I will say is a regular skin routine is essential, that’s one thing I’ll swear by to help keep any blemishes at bay. For my skin I use Soap And Glory Peaches And Cream Deep Cleansing Milk and Soap And Glory Vitamin C Facial Wash. There brilliant for sensitive skin and always make me feel fresh and silky skinned!
What products do you swear by? Are you willing to go bare faced?
Happy Tuesday ❣
Payday means pamper day! I decided to get my nails and hair done today (so overdue).
I love the feeling you get when you walk out the salon feeling like a sassy queen.
I usually go to nailzone in Glasgow for my nails but decided to try somewhere different, I went to Deborah’s Beauty In The City and I was not disappointed. Deborah was great and I loved the end result. I will definitely go back. I used to get acrylic extensions done but I want to give my nails a break as it can weaken them so I now opt for gel nails and I absolutely love them.
My hair is usually cut the same way, a bob with a straight cut block fringe. I find this style suits me and if it’s not broken then why fix it? If you are towing with the idea of getting a fringe I would suggest getting a shortish side fringe cut in that can also be worn as a full fringe, that way you’re not going all the way! I love my fringe and it’s the one thing that makes me feel like me.
What hairstyle do you love? Are you an acrylic or gel type of gal?
Get pampering ladies!
I am a big believer in supporting your local businsesses. I am lucky to have so many great coffee shops, Delis and restaurants within walking distance so it’s time to give them a shout out.
This is my Food Friday post and today I will be mentioning Eat Deli, located in the Southisde of Glasgow. This little deli offers some incredible home made cakes, outstanding fresh and delicious food and one of the best coffees I have ever had.
It constantly has a buzz around it and is great for a sit down brunch, with some truly spectacular eggs Benedict or various specials, which change daily.
The above photo is when I went in and got this marvellous meringue with fresh fruit. When a desert is bigger than your face then you know you’re onto a winner.
Do you try local before going to big cooperate chains? Where are your favourite places?
Tonight’s post is all about my appreciation for lush products. Not only are they incredible and make you smell like angels, it’s all animal cruelty free.
My hamper includes American cream, Veganese, Retreat, Big, Rub Rub Rub, Snow Fairy, Prince Charming, love soap, heart massage bar and ocean salt face mask.
If you have fine and limp hair like me then you should try Big for your shampoo and Veganese for your conditioner. Big contains natural salt so it’s amazing for creating big volume hair and Veganese is light weight and made especially for straight and fine hair. Combine both and you’re onto a winner!
Now when it comes to body products my all time favourite is Rub Rub Rub. This is a salt based scrub and can also be used in your hair, so a win win! Your skin is smooth and radiant after use and It now comes in a 665g tub, horray! For shower gels there is absolutely no beating Snow Fairy. The smell alone is enough to sell this but it’s just so magical on your skin. The only downfall is that it’s limited edition and is only available at Christmas time so stock up! Every year I buy numerous bottles to keep me going long after Christmas.
So there’s my little review on my favourite lush products. If you have not jumped the band wagon, then now is the time! Anytime I’ve been in a lush store the staff are so friendly and helpful that you never feel out of place.
Can’t wait to get a lush bubble bath tonight!
This post is going to be about another true love of mines and that’s my two Guinea Pigs Junior and Gizmo.
I have had these little terrors for just over a year and honestly can’t see myself without them. I don’t think people get that Guineas have their own wee personalities and are such loving pets. Their always happy to see me and are a natural alarm clock!
Last year they were both having health problems, Junior got the all clear in December but Gizzy had to go for further tests and they found a stone that was extremely high risk to operate on, so we had to make the difficult decision to let him live out the rest of his life as comfortably as possible, until he becomes too ill.
That was back in December and I’m thrilled that he is still with us. He has pain medication and it seems to be helping. He had a check up and is a healthy weight and shows no signs of deterioration. We are hoping that he can naturally pass the stone but we won’t know anything until his next X-ray. In the meantime I am staying hopeful and will continue to enjoy his fluffy company.
If anyone has Guineas and wants to share stories, pictures or needs any advice then get in touch 🐾🐾
Happy Valentine’s Day one and all. I hope that whatever way you’re spending it that you’re having a special day.
My hubby and I aren’t the OTT romantic couple, after 10 years together we have our own way of showing how much we appreciate each other. However this year I woke up to a beautifully wrapped lush box filled with goodies and a massive bouquet of pink lillies (not bought from the garage!) This was a wonderful surprise and was super thoughtful of him.
I am currently watching the future Gordon Ramsay making homemade Beef Wellington with dauphinoise potatoes. It’s a rare sight so I will enjoy not being the chef for the evening.
Happy V Day 💕
So I am currently sitting with two strips of a cut plastic bag stuck onto my eyebrows with brown tape, but I’ll get back to that later.
I can’t believe it’s Sunday night, my long weekend went in way too quickly. So let’s recap!
Friday night I met with my bestie and we ended up going for dinner and drinks (total change of plans) but unplanned nights are always more fun! We had a few rums which is always nice and end up having numerous deep discussions (like you do). It’s our last year of our 20’s so it got us talking about our careers, love life and what our plan is. She has her five year plan down and it’s amazing to be at that place in your life but then I look at me…I don’t even have a one year plan. I’m healthy (ish), loved by people and in love, when did that stop becoming enough? We are told to have our shit together by the time were 30, the silent pressure to have kids begins and it’s as if you have to transform into another person just because you’re a year older? Ridiculous. I say do you, try to aim towards happiness and I mean true happiness and enjoy every moment you are here. Don’t feel you need to start dressing differently or look to buy a property just because society expects that at a certain age. I’ve never been traditional and never will.
It was also great to talk about what I want to do job wise. I thought I would go back to university to study teaching but it’s so competitive and jobs are so far and few between? Is it too much of a risk? Is there something better suited for me? I need to do something that suits my personality and were I am helping people, I mean really making a difference. So I am going to keep my head up and keep searching for my calling!
On Saturday I took the plunge and got my eyebrows tattoo’d. I’ve wanted this done for so long and it was a late birthday present. I am in love with the results.
So if like me you have light/thin brows and have to constantly pencil them in everyday, then I couldn’t recommend this treatment enough. It is normally around £249-£300 for the first application and £75 6 weeks later for a top up which lasts 6-12 months so it is expensive but there’s some amazing deals online, especially on groupon and wowcher. I got mines from wowcher for £90 so a massive saving! The place I went to was called Maes Brows & Beauty on Cathcart Road and she was fabulous. I’m thinking of the time I’ll shed from my morning routine to the money I’ll save on products. Definitely a win win.
So that brings me to the plastic bags. You cannot touch or get your eyebrows wet for 7 days so I had to think of something before my shower!
It’s been an amazing weekend and truly gutted to be going to work tomorrow.
Happy new week everyone!
